Crackshot Chesapeakes is proud to offer stud service from outstanding bloodlines. Listed below are some requirements and helpful resource links to health clearances and testing that all potential breeders need to consider prior to using one of our males.

All approved bitches must have a brucellosis test performed prior to breeding and no breeding will be done without progesterone testing.

These are the clinics that have frozen available on Crash and Chase.

Rose City Vet Hospital,    Pasadena CA    626-796-8387

Pet Medical Center of Utah Valley,     Orem UT     801-225-5395

Prior to breeding your female you should have her hips and elbows evaluated for signs of dysplasia and the eyes examined by a board certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist (A.C.V.O. ). Many local vets provide radiograph submission of hips and elbows to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), check with vets in your area if they provide this service. Eye exams, noting the presence of cataracts and other types of eye diseases, are performed by a specialist and the results are submitted to CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation). CERF maintains a list of clinics and ACVO ophthalmologists by area.

There are several inherited diseases that are of concern in the chesapeakes bay retriever for which a DNA test is available. DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse).

Info and test ordering for DM is available through the OFA

Info and test ordering for PRA is available through Optigen LLC

Info and test ordering for EIC is available through the University Of Minnesota
